Elect Tara Conte
People Over Politics
Tara Conte is a native of Yonkers, NY in Westchester County. She was proud to put down roots in Eastchester in 2016 to watch her son Christopher grow and thrive. Once her family had settled into their new home in Northern Eastchester she went about the business of meeting friends and becoming active in the community.
Beginning with her connection to Bronxville and the Eliza Corwin Frost School, where she and Christopher made many friends, she was active in fundraising and loved every minute of it. But she was always looking forward to the day that Chris would be old enough to start in at Eastchester Schools. When Chris started at Waverly, Tara, like most other moms, joined the PTA and took part in regular PTA activities, like the Wellness Committee, where she had a hand in of bringing the Outdoor Classroom model to life.
In 2018 when Chris was a first grader at Waverly. Tara realized that she had a desire to be even more involved in the Eastchester and ran for The Eastchester Board of Education. She now serves on the BOE as the liaison for the Anne Hutchinson School and prior to the Waverly School. She is the Chair for the Audit and Board Policies Committee and, also serves on the Education and Community Relations Committees.
In addition to her service on the BOE she currently plays an active role in the PTA at Greenvale, where her son will begin the third grade in September.
She has been employed by the City of Yonkers for nearly 20 years and is currently the Recreation Supervisor for the City of Yonkers Department of Parks, Recreation and Conservation. She is a fierce advocate for people with Developmental and Intellectual Disabilities, and is a successful grant writer, who also handles staffing, funding and programming. She would be a natural choice to represent the Eastchester Parks and Recreation Department on the Town Board.
While she has many platforms her main goal in running for the Eastchester Town Board is to promote a sense of unity and transparency in government where both parties are represented to better ensure a healthy debate of the issues at hand.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Purchase College in Literature and Drama and has received credits towards a Master’s in Education from New York University.
Tara is a registered Democrat but does not judge anyone by their party affiliation instead seeks to actively communicate and collaborate with all the people of Eastchester, Bronxville and Tuckahoe. You will see her name on both the Independence and Democratic line when you cast your vote on the 2020 Ballot on November 3rd, 2020.
